Two industry figures have won complimentary places in the UK’s biggest ultra-marathon Race to the Stones to raise money for Reuben’s Retreat.

EasyJet holidays Senior Strategy Manager Louie Davis and Panache Cruises Content Marketing Manager Olivia Edwards will join the rest of the Reuben’s Racers as they take on the 100km two-day challenge in July.

Louie and Olivia were selected from all the entries by A-ROSA River Cruises MD Lucia Rowe, who has spearheaded the challenge, with the support of Tricia Birmingham of Fred. Holidays and Nicola Graham of Reuben’s Retreat.

“Louie and Olivia are both great additions to our team and I am so proud of them for putting themselves forward as this is not an easy undertaking,” said Lucia.

“They are both dynamic people with a history of challenging themselves to give something back to those in need. Both of their entries showed their dedication to both teamwork and the common goals of the travel industry to support others.”

As part of the prize package, both will now have one-to-one access to professional lifestyle and ultra-running coach Rory Coleman, who will support them over the coming months in the build-up to the event in July.

Each must also raise a minimum of £700 for Reuben’s Retreat, with the team targeting a total of over £7,000.

Ahead of the event, the entire team will visit Reuben’s Retreat in May to show their support and see the work that the charity does, plus participate in a full day of long-distance marathon training in June with Rory.

Olivia said“I’m so excited to have won a place on this epic ultra-marathon – it’s unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of before! I head to either the Lake District, Peak District or Yorkshire most weekends as I just love being outside so this was the perfect challenge for me. I can’t wait to take part in the Race to the Stones this summer and to fundraise for Reuben’s Retreat, which is such a brilliant cause.”

Louie added: “I’m a keen runner and rugby player and I can’t wait to get some advice and training from Rory on how to improve my running techniques and skills for this epic event. Being able to spread the word about Reuben’s Retreat and the phenomenal work of the charity is also a real driver for me.”

The two winners will join the rest of the Reuben’s Racers’ team comprised of Lucia and Tricia plus Hays Travel Director Lisa McAuley, Barrhead Director of Sales & Marketing Nicki Tempest-Mitchell and her husband Lee, former travel industry professional Jane Atkins and her husband Neil, and travel journalist Jeannine Williamson.

The event in Wiltshire consists of a 50km run (or walk) each day and includes overnight camping in between. There is the option to do just one day, if preferred.
